OK we are close enough to the end of the year to start this.

My favorite games in alphabetical order:

Far Cry 3
Walking Dead
I don't think I have a 4th or 5th that I think I've enjoyed on the same level as these

The would probably be on my list if I played them:

Mark of the Ninja

The I really love it but not quite upto the level of the top games this year:
Shank 2

The WTF I never saw that coming game:
Frog Fractions

I love seeing other peoples best of lists that are full of games I haven't even played. Just goes to show that it will be a long time before I get to all the great games of 2012.

Far Cry 3 (only 3 hours in, but it's fantastic, most likely will be my GotY since I can't count Dark Souls)
Resident Evil: Revelations
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3DS
The Last Story

If you told me that Far Cry 3 would have been one of my favorite games after its showing at E3 this year I'd have slapped you in the face. Couldn't be more delightfully surprised that the game is opposite of the crap I thought it was going to be.

But seriously, everyone should check out Frog Fractions.

MrFoxhound says:
I completely agree. There is no way that I thought I would love Far Cry 3 as much as I do especially after my supreme disappointment with FC2.

So you are saying that I should have shaved my head for a free copy?

Kirksplosion says:
This is basically in order

Mass Effect 3
Asura's Wrath
Rock Band Blitz
The Unfinished Swan
Assassin's Creed 3
Halo 4
Hotline Miami

Possible contenders still in my backlog - The Walking Dead, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Mark of the Ninja.
Possible contenders I have yet to buy - Dishonored, Far Cry 3, XCOM: EU

Did you get Frog Fractions from Brad Shoemaker's list?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 28, 2012, 11:26:35 AM PST
Was that an option? Well even if it was some people just look like skinheads if they shave their head so if that is the case with you I'd have still just ponied up the money.

From the overall Giant Bomb talk over 5 days where they discuss all their best of categories. Still brought up by Brad, I knew when I started that it was gonna be more than it initially seemed because of him talking about it but that game takes some crazy turns.

J. Pardee says:
Oops, not a shaved head. At PAX Prime they were offering free copies of FC3 if you were willing to get your hair shaved into a mo-hawk.

Asura's Wrath
Darkness 2
Halo 4
Mass Effect 3 (GOTY)
New Super Mario Bros. U
Sleeping Dogs
The Last Story
The Walking Dead
Xcom: Enemy Unknown

I'd probably have Borderlands 2 on the list, but I haven't played it yet. I'm currently working my way through the original Borderlands and loving it.

Ryan says:
In no particular order:

Xenoblade Chronicles
Kid Icarus: Uprising
The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings Enhanced Edition
Guild Wars 2

Wow...I just realized I didn't play as many games as I thought, I just keep buying them. Oh well...back to the backlog.

Ah, I watched their individual list videos on the website. Seems that mine most closely aligned with Ryan's or maybe Alex's. The podcasts hadn't updated (at least for me) until yesterday on the iTunes Store. Looks like I'll get to them next week.

Heh, I'll have to check out Frog Fractions then. Brad didn't convince me in the quick snippet on the video.
