Shocked me? Hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will.

Oh Amazon. Deleting my post with no swearing whatsoever. for shame, for shame.
All I said is that nothing in games has shocked me re:violence, but that Otto biting off his tongue in SAMCRO certainly did.

definitely gotta go with Mortal Kombat. haven't played the actual game, but did see someone else play, and pretty much all of the "fatalities" were pretty messed up

I'll let you know when the shock happens.

I've never been shocked by the violence. I've been scared. I've been disgusted by certain games themselves just because of their subject matter like Custer's Revenge or that Afghanistan shooter that was canceled, but never shocked.

They are games; they are fake. Ripping off someone's arm then beating them to death with it is funny, not shocking.

Pro Wrestling on the NES. When the Amazon bit somebody's head you got little spurts of pixel blood. It was pretty intense to my barely developed senses!

This.

Not really 3. My first GTA was London, I believe it came with GTA 2 as a double pack or something. However, GTA 3 was the first time it actually seemed real.

Manhunt.

There was really nothing more satisfying in that game than the level 3 kill with the piano wire.

My first big scare was probably Resident Evil 2. I was a little kid and started playing the demo at Walmart one day. It got to the scene where you die, and zombies pile on to start eating you. After a while, a bunch of blood splatters on the screen. Pretty disturbing for a kid!

FOGE says:
GTA3 bc it was the first game in my memory where you could go on a violent rampage against innocent civilians. Which of course I did. I mean, if the game lets you do something, you have to try it out.

Is that shocking though?

Ooooh that man...

We did a study on him in my Game theory and Ethics course. it was hilarious to see his reactions to things.

Doom. seeing bodies on spikes, piles of pixilated skulls and satanic simbols all over the place was pretty shocking.

I'll bet that was actually really interesting. I remember him when he was still around. Dude was psycho. He got sued for lieing or something. He might be in jail.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 13, 2012, 6:26:11 AM PST
he's not in jail, but he did lose his license/ability to practice law.
