Do you think the PS3's poor performance will affect PS4 sales?

Poor performance? It sold the same amount of consoles in six years Microsoft sold in seven.

So you are saying both Microsoft and Sony performed poorly? :)

Three PS3 troll threads in one day?

I'm starting to think you have Ps3-nis envy.

FOGE says:
That's true, but you have to admit, without the XBOX the 360 would have never sold as good as it did.

FOGE says:
Those sales were so poor cause it was a new system and people weren't familiar with Xbox yet. 360 is a pretty great little system but without a foundation, it would not have been as good or commercially successful.

The PS3's performance isn't necessarily poor, but I do think that the relative lack of success of the PS3 compared to the PS2 will mean that Sony will come into the next gen with significantly less momentum than they did last go around.

So they actually have to come out of the gate hot this time, rather than the disappointing performance by the PS3 at launch.

But momentum doesn't matter that much, since nobody was colder coming into this gen than Nintendo, and we all saw how that worked out.

*shipped

They shipped as many units in 6 years as Microsoft sold in 7. It's not an apples to apples comparison, Flores.

I think the PS4 will be as big as a house and only the 12 richest people in the world will be able to afford one.

For reals though, unless MS starts making a bunch of new core IP's for next gen, they will be the odd man out again.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 20, 2012, 12:59:09 PM PST
No, I'm saying both did well.
Nintendo did better. For a change.

I can agree with that last sentence.

On this gen's new core IP the PS3 is the clear winner in my opinion. I play waaay more 360 than PS3 but I enjoy Playstation's games more. Okay even reading that now it makes no sense but it's true. Any multi-plats I give an edge to The 360. I guess with the PS3 I just go single player and once I'm done I put it aside. It's the co-op on the 360 that is my go-to on a Friday night so I don't feel quite so much the social leper and shut-in.

>>mandatory installs<<

those don't matter to most people, look at the Wii U, before you start playing games on it, you have to download updates.

>>long download times<<

depends on how compressed the files are = long download times, you should know that...

>>no achievements the first half of the gen<<

since when does having achievements determine how good a console is? the older consoles never had them and they were good consoles.

>>inferior multiplats<<

how so? they sure play/look the same to me.

>>inferior online<<

why? because you have to pay for XBL and that makes it better? you're so full of it...

>>high price point<<

I don't recall having to pay $120 for a 312GB hard drive for the PS3, nor $150 for the PS Move or having to pay $70 a year for PSN+.

>>do you think people are going to risk taking a chance on the PS4?<<

well, we'll see what happens, whether or not that the PS4 will be $500 - $600 when it launches. but i'm sure people will pay anything for entertainment. hell, people on ebay were willing to spend $10,000+ for the PS3 when it launched.

Incredibly pathetic, and yet the PS3 will end up being the 4th best selling home console of all time.
Go figure.
