2 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 3 Gamestops, a Sams Club and 2 toys r us' are within a 10 Mile radius of me.

All sold out.

1 Walmart has some near me, multiple Target's have some near me.

David Kinney says:
I went to Target this morning, and they didn't have any - unless you reserved one already.
Went to another Target. Same thing.

Went to Fry's - and they had 6 of the $300 Basic Set available. All the upgraded models were sold out already. Fortunately the white basic set is the one I wanted. I asked the guy, and he said people were lined up when the store opened ... for the 6 black ones that they had.

There seems to be some sort of supply side manipulation going on.
People are selling thousands of them on ebay at higher prices.

It's as if middle men loaded up with pre-orders, then try to make a profit for the Christmas season. They're not even interested in the console themselves.

Oh yes, and Fry's bundled up their Wii U consoles with a black controller and nunchuk strapped on to the box. I bet it was leftover from the previous Wii line-up, and they were just forcing you to buy up their leftovers if you wanted the new console. In addition, they bundled up New Super Mario Bros U and NintendoLand to the box. Fortunately these are the two games I wanted.

What ever happened to the days when you could just buy the console?

i got a call from gamestop saying that they had extras and i could pick one up but i have not the money nor the will to be stuck with a smaller hard drive that what'll come out later

You don't make any sense. If you want NintendoLand, why didn't you want the deluxe Wii? That comes with it and would be $10 cheaper with a lot more stuff.

Friend just bought a Deluxe at Sears (last one), however they were all sold out of the Basic's. Odd.

The Target I work for only received 6 8GB and 8 32GB. Only 4 were for purchases and the others were pre sale

N.Cooper says:
I live near Charlotte, NC and I checked out all the Walmarts in a 20 mile radius and they all have the deluxe models in stock. There were only 3 stores that were sold out.

J. Arthur says:
I know what you mean, N. Cooper, but that person will never get anywhere near that price for a Deluxe Wii U. Most resellers are getting between $450 and $500 on ebay and amazon--which after the original purchase price, tax and shipping really isn't a huge profit margin for them. It certainly isn't as egregious as what PS3 resellers were getting on launch day back in 2006.

Which model were you looking for?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 18, 2012, 10:08:32 PM PST
Hah! That seller has dropped his price from >$800 to a generous $599.99. And he is even offering a warranty for $47.99. What a deal!!

Modern Bear says:
I heard a Target somewhere had some in stock, and therefore the Wii-U is a failure.

Dukeshire says:
The U just is not interesting me right now. Other than NSMBU little is holding my attention. Hopefully this will change next year when more and better games are released. I just cannot justify plunking down 300 plus for essentially what I can get and play on the current consoles.

I'm sure the walmart here has a ton of em

Waldo says:
I agree, 1 great title(NSMBU) does not justify buying the Wii U right now! No console launch is really! A year or more sounds good before forking over the dough to see if there is anything else worth wild!

I'll buy one when it has more games I want. Most of their third party stuff I own already!

Sha Gojyo says:
well, they're not hard to find at Amazon, that is if you don't mind buying a Wii U for $400 - $500 from 3rd party sellers on Amazon which don't include games with them, but just for the systems alone.

Yeah most stores around me(Sears/Wall-Mart/Target) seem to only have an inventory of about 10 possibly 15 at this time which sucks, oh well while it's a little frustrating I can wait until the year is over and get it after the holidays.

Of course they always rot on Target shelves.

Scalps have always existed, even before the Internet, they just used to stand outside stores and scalp the wanted item. This is not a new phenomenon.
