People will be able to get a Wii for $89.00 on BF, but if I want to get a second MotionPlus+Nunchuck combo for my youngest son, I will have to shell out $60.00
Seriously, can anybody explain to me how does this makes any sense?

They are two separate products like the Move and Nav controllers.

Haven't seen the controller combo advertised for sale anywhere. And my 6 year old is driving me crazy for me to get another controller so he can play alongside his older brother.
$60 it is, then, but forgodsake...

I know. And he wants both. $40+$20

Which games do they want to play together? Is the nunchuck necessary?

Some Lego games, not sure if SMG has co-op.
And then there's the "how come he has one and I don't" issue to consider too.

Can anybody recommend an off branded controller+ nunchuck that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Agreed

See if you can find a copy of Flingsmash bundled with the MotionPlus. Those are often cheaper than the controllers (Best Buy had it for $8 last December.) As for the nunchuck, you should be able to find one on eBay or Craigslist for cheap.

Just wait until they want two Wii U controllers.

I've had good experiences with the Memorex one (which also works with the branded nunchuk attachment if you don't want to bother with charging the wireless one). I got the bundle of both on eBay for $15 during a sale early this year, though it doesn't come with a jacket (it fits the branded one if you care about that sort of thing).

You could go to Toysrus.com which is having a Buy 1 Get 1 40% OFF ALL 3DS, DS, Wii & Wii U Video Games priced 49.99 and below sale. Buy Flingsmash which is $29.99 (Wii Remote Plus alone is $39.99) and another Wii game or whatever. Flingsmash may not be awesome, but your 6 year old may like it and even if he doesn't you still save $10 and 40% off another game (or more likely that one if you choose a more expensive gamefor the second one). Also online they offer 20% off orders of $100 or more. Doubt they stack, but wouldn't hurt to see if it does I guess...

It's not just Nintendo that does that, PS3 and Xbox Controllers are still expensive as the day they came out. maybe like 5$ cheaper.

JinTX says:
Yeah but the PS3 and Xbox systems aren't $89 either. If they were, people would just buy a whole system, then sell the system for $80 and keep the controller for the other $9 lol. I just bought a Halo 4 system ($350, no sales tax) but I bought the LE of the game so I sold the game that came with the console for $60, one of the two controllers that came with it for $60, and the FOTUS dlc code for $75, meaning I only spent $155 for the console+one controller with a 320gb hdd. That's cheaper than buying a 4gb console lol. You just have to know how to play the game.

I bet you can find a way to score a nintendo-branded wii controller and nunchuk without spending more than $30, maybe significantly less if you play your cards right.
