Pretty nice way to dump some Xmas Gift Cards and some 100% trade-in's

Tempting , but we are pretty set on using our collective cash/Visa GC haul towards booking some flights for Disney this Spring.

HorizonBrave says:
This is awkwardly appropriate with the decrease in WiiU sales this last week in Japan, the biggest electronic selling week in the whole year. (see Media Create weekly info on Gamefaqs or Neogaf).
The worst part is that their stock problems have already been fixed in Japan.

NintendoLand should have been a pack-in with both versions anyway.

Nintendo land is awesome, but yeah, should have been a pack in.

They learned by the popularity of wii sports that people like playing demo games, so they're trying to profit from it. Seemed kinda shady from the first I heard that every console wasn't going to ship with the game, but it's their choice. Still worth it to get the deluxe to me.

The funny thing is... Nintendo Land is pretty fun and...difficult.

Aku says:
It definitely gets unfair comparisons to Wii Sports. It has the stamp/achievement system from Resort, yeah, but each minigame is MUCH more demanding, uniquely portrayed and fleshed out.

There's a pretty big difference between Wii Sports and Nintendoland. Wii Sports felt like a tech demo and wasn't really a deep experience plus it offered very little in the way of challenge. Nintendoland on the other hand feels like an actual game which offers some engaging and rather challenging gameplay. Yes it is built around making use of the Gamepad but it goes well beyond that initial "Ooooo" factor that Wii Sports brought to the table.

This time around I think Nintendo was more than justified charging for it plus Nintendo charged for Wii Sports in Japan when it first launched.

So is Nintendoland worth buying separately and if so for how much?

Aku says:
If you have willing friends/family and leftover Wiimotes, it's a must. Hell even if you'll be single-player only there's plenty of minigame challenge to keep you going. I'd go ahead and get it now since it won't drop in price until you've registered for social security, if previous Nintendo titles are any indication.

I'd still suggest getting the Deluxe model; $50 more nets you four times the internal storage, the Nintendo Club deal, plus a copy of Nintendoland. At the moment I'd say if you plan on playing a lot of multiplayer with it (the way it was meant to be played, especially with five players) it is well worth the full price. However if you'll be playing alone I'd suggest waiting for the price to come down to around $30 to $20 since a few of the games can't be played unless you have at least two people and even then they aren't nearly as fun as when you get a bunch of friends over.

Target's got it for $39.99 right now, you're saying it's worth that?

Give me a:
1) Mario Galaxy Wii U game
2) Zelda Wii U game
3) Metroid Prime Wii U game
4) Mario Kart Wii U Game

And, a few other 1st party titles (on the horizon) and then I'll buy it. Right now, there isn't anything on it I want to play. I've been burned by the 3DS already. No sense in me losing more money on a system that doesn't have games I want to play.

I am really interested in seeing how the Zelda team is going to be utilizing the gamepad. Also, waiting to see what Retro is going to be doing.

From Media Create Sales:

Last week JP Nintendo WiiU #'s - 126.916
This week JP Nintendo WiiU #'s - 122.843

Is that really a massive drop? It's still the #2 selling console in Japan besides the seemingly unstoppable 3DS.

Last week JP Nintendo 3DS #'s - 319.025
This week JP Nintendo 3DS #'s - 411.272

As a comparison, the PSP is currently the third highest selling console in JP:

Last week JP Sony PSP's - 33.002
This week JP Sony PSP's - 65.859

I don't think Nintendo consoles are struggling by any means.

Also remember when the 3DS was going to be the end of Nintendo?

Edit - As an aside, WiiU software sales increased during the same time, with Nintendo Land jumping almost 25%:

08./05. [WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U <ACT> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥5.985) - 77.749 / 312.288 (+9%)

13./10. [WIU] Nintendo Land <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥4.935) - 51.373 / 164.991 (+24%)

What's the Nintendo Club deal?

And the deluxe also has a cradle for the controller. I didn't think I'd use it but it's pretty convenient to just put it down without having to plug a cord in every time.

Hopefully you got a lot of them, it's ridiculous how much tickets cost to go there nowadays. I'm sorry but $80 dollars for kids under ten and about a $110 for adults and that's for only one day which doesn't include the cost for food, gifts, and hotel stay(Also a cost cruncher).

Yeah, lol. Just posted that in the Japan thread.
