Boo. Deleted.

No cursing or anything.

Anyway, to make this short and sweet, I basically made an argument that wealth redistribution has been occurring by way of the tax code for many years. One example is capital gains tax has fallen nearly 50% since the Reagan administration (28% to 15%) and we all know the poor do not benefit from this.

Wealth disparity is at an all time high.

I am upper middle class and pay 30% in taxes at the end of the day. Romney, as the most obvious example, paid about 15% in taxes during 2010 and was technically unemployed. While his rate is higher before various deductions and loopholes, his rate drops in the teens with an army of tax lawyers. Again, this does not benefit the middle-class in the same way it does the upper class.

At which point I asked which direction the money was going.

Have a good evening.

"quit supporting God's chosen people (Israel) because our president's spiritual mentor is a radical black-power Islamists, then vote Obama and continue to make the US the modern day Sodom and Gomora."

*Gomorrah

Okay, I'm a little late to this party, but no sane person actually believes this crap right?

"BTW when it comes to tax law, the US Congress determines said laws. And since 1933, the democrats have controlled th majority of congress more than 2/3 of the time.. That percentage is even higher since the 1970s. Reference composition of congress "

Fair enough.

I wasn't blaming conservatives, Republicans, or any other specific group; I'm simply stating that the tax code tells the story about which direction the money flows and I have a hard time believing anyone thinks it goes towards the poor and middle-class. Using this metric it simply cannot be said that it goes disproportionately to the poor.

Income disparity is a telling gauge and it surprises me, with all of your education and experience, that you disagree.

Lastly, there is no reason to say that liberals believe this or conservatives believe that. We are a diverse people, all of us, and we have varying viewpoints on a host of issues.

I am genuinely surprised that you think it's fair that a person that makes millions of dollars a year pays almost half (by percentage) what you pay in taxes.

Well, we'll agree to disagree in the interest of time. I think that a fair amount of number dissection is necessary to have a legitimate argument if we use your numbers. (point being, if the rich have everything and the poor have nothing obviously the rich will have a larger burden. These numbers are not conclusive).

Further, lets both agree that we want a country of fairness and a place where hard work and innovation equals success.

Have a great evening, sir.
