I didn't see many movies this year, but I did enjoy Looper and to a lesser degree, Total Recall.

These three are all I needed all year:

2. Skyfall
3. Prometheus

Kirksplosion says:
As a Tolkien fan familiar with the lore, I thought The Hobbit was really great.

As a standalone film apart from my interest in the lore, I thought the movie was just okay. It meandered a lot, and the pacing wasn't great.

Wow this year? Probably avengers, maybe Spider-Man. That's it out of all the movies this year.

T. E. Maddox says:
The Avengers
The Hunger Games
Dark Knight Rises
Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Cabin in the Woods
Amazing Spider Man

The order depends on what day you catch me on. I also refused to put Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on my list and just stopped there.

I still have more I want to see though.

Everyone hates Cars, IDK, I find very easy to watch and rather enjoyable though it isn't the high art you normally get from Pixar. And even with that baseline goodwill from Cars 1, I _still_ hate Cars 2.

Kirksplosion says:
Since Cars is my least favorite Pixar movie, I never even bothered with Cars 2, lol. I'm sure it would rank down there.

Mrs. User says:
Biggest surprise: Spider-Man
Disappointment: Prometheus

edit: and Prometheus wasn't super disappointing, just a little confusing. I wasn't really let down by any movies this year.

D_Strasse says:
Brave was OK, I put it in teh middle of teh Pixar pack, maybe lower middle, but no way is it as bad as Cars 2. Honestly, Lassetter should be ashamed for releasing that movie.

Kirksplosion says:
Here's the 2012 movies bonus round questions:

Biggest surprise -
John Carter is actually a really fun, enjoyable movie.

Biggest disappointment -
Brave turns out to be one of my least favorite Pixar movies.

Bah, I keep forgetting to add Moonrise Kingdom to my Netflix queue.

Posted on Dec 17, 2012, 11:41:00 AM PST
1) The Dark Knight Rises
2) Expendables 2
3) Skyfall
4) Wreck it Ralph
5) Avengers
6) Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
7) Brave

I also saw Cloud Atlas and Hunger Games but I wouldn't say they belong in the "Top" list...they both were just meh

I have yet to see The Hobbit and Django Unchained as I figure they will both fall in the "Top 10" of this year.

I agree! Flight was so good, and I forgot about Looper and Lincoln. I saw so many movies this summer I can hardly remember them all...

Lionheart says:
Tree of Life? no, that was 2011, I think.

Just saw Moonrise Kingdom. Not a big fan, although Ed Norton is the man.

Kirksplosion says:
1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Moonrise Kingdom
3. The Avengers
4. Cabin in the Woods
5. Wreck-It Ralph
6. Prometheus
7. The Hunger Games
8. John Carter
9. The Raid: Redemption
10. Safety Not Guaranteed

And there's still lots of movies I haven't seen this year that I really want to - Looper, Argo, The Hobbit, Django Unchained, Spider-Man, Skyfall, Lincoln, Cloud Atlas, The Secret World of Arrietty. Yeah...a lot more.

The VGF never fails to deliver in that regard.

If there's one certainty in life that you can set your watch to, that would be one of them.
