Whether it be (SPOILER ALERT for Ocarina of Time and God of War III) battling Ganon after his castle toppled, or fighting Zeus at the heart of the Titan Gaia, what stands to you as the most goose-bump inducing moment in gaming narrative history?

Exiting the sewers in Oblivion and realizing that you can go anywhere, you are simultaneously stunned and excited.

Not the *most*, but definitely one of them, War's last line at the end of Darksiders was pretty bad-azz.

And being big enough to finally roll up entire islands, rainbows, and giant sea monsters in Katamari. WHO'S THE KING NOW?

Fallout 3: Pressing the button and watching Megaton blow sky high.

I was like holy sh**, was I really just able to do that?

It's a game that's full of jaw dropping epic moments but the final boss battle in Bayonetta is incredible. You basically fight the God of that universe in a completely mind blowing multi stage fight.

Jontron picked Jubileus as the best boss fight of all time.

Since I played Fallout 3 before Oblivion, this was my same experience, only with exiting the Vault. However, I still felt some of that when I played Oblivion later.

I don't know who that is but I would agree with that.

I was exactly the opposite, playing Fallout 3 later, but still got the chills when I left the vault.

The original Half-Life, it was unlike any game I had played when it came out. It's hard to just pick one epic moment.

There was a point in Max Payne 1 where you are invading the tower/skyscraper (cant remember exactly, but it was the last stage) and the lobby is defended by many gunmen. Went into a slow otion dive for cover and it showed the bullets trailing on the wall just behind MP throughout the entire dive. Came up from the dive and offed three dudes with three shots. That was my most memorable moment just based on how awesome the whole sequence seemed to me at that moment. There have been greater gaming moments, but none felt quite as epic IN the moment than that.

Firing up Final Fantasy VII in 1997, and seeing the opening cinematic cut scene. Video games had NEVER looked that good before, and it was happening in a Final Fantasy game. It was a JRPG fanboy's wet dream come to life.

Reading about Max Payne got me thinking of another: the stage battle in Alan Wake. Hordes of monsters coming at you from all angles with Old Gods of Asgard blaring in the background while all the pyrotechnics are going off...absolutely awesome.

A quick thanks to Brony. This is definitely the coolest thread that's been put up in a while. So many great game moments! It's really cool to read about everybody's faves.

The beginning of Saints Row 3 is pretty friggin' epic.

I'd have to say the tower night from demon's souls though. Up until then it was challenging but bearable....Once I stepped through that fog gate and saw a ginormous knight as well as archers all around I froze and said "fuuuuuuuddggggee" (only it wasn't fudge)....And then was immediately one shotted.

The Death of Luca Blight in Suikoden II. Pretty much the most ridiculous and epic boss fight in history.

If you're not familiar with that villainous a-hole, Luca's basically a murderous monster who would be right at home in an episode of "Game of Thrones". In order to kill him, your strategist sets up a trap in the form of an epic strategy battle (which is done board game style in that game). The battle results in an ambush that ends in Luca sporting about five arrows in his chest. THEN, your tactical squads surround him and attack him in three waves (presumably flanking him with two and attacking him head on with the last). These three fights are intense and done in the traditional JRPG style. This manages to weaken him enough that your main character is able to beat him in a one-on-one duel which is basically a rock-paper-scissors match...with killing.

He goes out with the line: "it took hundreds to kill me, but I killed people by the THOUSANDS!" Which, despite being an evil-ass thing to be proud of, is also a pretty cool thing to roar at people before they finally cut you down.
