Alien Fodder says:
THIS IS A LONG POST BUT I'VE STILL MADE IT AS CONSENSED AS I POSSIBLY COULD.

So the interview for the admin job at Ubisoft Montreal was yesterday at 5:00 p.m. Good thing I checked with the recruiter late last week because I really thought it was supposed to be on Monday.

Where do I begin?... When I entered the building, I found myself in this rather large entry hall and I couldn't even see where the reception was at first, obviously because I was a little too nervous and in awe of simply being there. There was a bunch of girls who were sitting at a table on the right to promote something and one of them took pity on me and kindly asked me if she could help me. I told her who I was looking for and she pointed me towards the reception doors which were practically next to me.

I don't know how I managed not to squee and smile like the fangirl that I am when I saw the large banner for AC Brotherhood plastered right above the glass doors... My stomach churned, but in a really good way. :)

Anyway, while I was waiting for the recruiter to come, the receptionist actually asked me to fill out a Confidentiality Agreement. That's right. Seems like every time you go there for the first time to meet someone, they actually make you sign that document. I didn't even have time to go through it before the recruiter arrived and off we went to a small conference room and the interview began.

I won't go into details but the interview was actually pleasant and I was very grateful that the guy didn't ask any of the nasty trick questions that the majority of employers usually love to nail you with. He asked me why I wanted to work for Ubisoft and I told him that I had a lot of respect for this studio and what they had accomplished, and I also mentioned that I liked gaming in my spare time. So he asked what game I was playing these days (even if "it's not one of ours", he added... LOL!) and I told him I was very much into Mass Effect 2 nowadays.

And I guess the whole thing went pretty well overall because once everything was over, he told me he would get back to me soon for a second interview, this time with the President's executive assistant (the person I'd be closely working with).

I'll keep you guys posted as things progress. :)

Alien Fodder says:
You don't need to work at Ubi to know the answer to that question. This is going to be the conclusion to Desmond's involvement in the AC universe so you can definitely expect to see more progression. :) Apparently our time spent with him will count for about 20% of the overall gameplay time.

Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

Edit: Also I'm expecting you to steal a Wii-U and ZombiU.

Awesome! Thats good to hear. You definitely picked a good company. Ubisoft seems to be doing really well lately.

Alien Fodder says:
LOL! Thanks! I understand where you're coming from with the "man" thing. The ladies are indeed a minority in this forum and in gaming in general so that's okay. Just make sure you don't do it again. Ever. *grin*

Thank you, Keji! If I do get the job, I'll see what I can do about the Wii-U and the ZombiU. :)

Wait, didn't they have a poll out a couple weeks ago saying there are more female gamers now then men?

"the President's executive assistant"

Are you going to be the queen of the admins?

I think those "gamer' figures encompass a much broader figure than just the hardcore nerds who spend their workdays on video game forums.

Are you implying people could spend their work days doing something more productive?

Alien Fodder says:
Those statistics are definitely warped in that they put all sorts of "gaming" into the mix, including the very casual type like those silly Facebook games that most female "gamers" like so much. If the stats only applied to the more hardcore category of games, I'm pretty sure the numbers would be vastly different.

Yes. But who'd want to be productive? This is so much more fun.
