A Northampton woman made an unusual discovery in her yard - a deformed baby cardinal with two heads and three beaks.

April Britt says she found the bird near the base of a tree Monday and returned it to its nest.

The 67-year-old Britt tells the Daily Hampshire Gazette ( http://bit.ly/LFlSqn) the bird apparently couldn't eat without assistance from the adult birds. The middle beak didn't work well and the other two didn't appear to be connected to the bird's throat.

A scientist for the Massachusetts Audubon Society says animals with such abnormalities rarely survive birth, making the find all the more unusual. He says the deformities could have been caused by genetic or environmental factors.

The baby and adults were gone by Tuesday.

Because then she'd have to prove it existed. I'm declaring shenanigans.

Yup. I mean seriously...who doesn't have a camera-enabled device handy wherever they go nowadays?

Yes. Even if one wasn't on her person, the bird was in her yard. I'm sure she has a camera or cell phone SOMEWHERE in the house. Considering she had to return it to the nest, I doubt it could fly under it's own power. It shouldn't have just vanished.

J. Pardee says:
It sounds like the bird couldn't fly. It could have easily fallen out of the nest again and then a cat probably dragged it off to make an ungodly meal out of it.

No picture? Screw opening the link.

Also why can't people find something nice for once? Like "I went out in my backyard and I found a bunch of puppies and kittens living toether peacefully! Why can't the world just get along like the puppies and kittens? Y U NO GET ALONG WORLD?!"

Those are the kind of stories I want to read.

But probably not within the amount of time it would've taken her to get a camera. The article doesn't even say she tried.

J. Pardee says:
But she was 67 years old, dem old people walk like molasses. At least my grandma does. Plus she might not have known what a camera is with all that futuristic technology.

She probably didn't want to steal the poor bird's soul.

Abominations don't have souls though.

Oh come now Abomination might have been rough around the edges but after Hulk took him out he wasn't such a bad guy now was he?

sounds like the current human condition.

"The baby and adults were gone by Tuesday."

but unfortunately evolution has not corrected it yet.
