The 4 Reasons for being Overweight

There are only 4 reasons for being overweight; eating too much, exercising too little, medical conditions, psychological conditions (which affect previous 3).
Can anyone give their reason for being overweight and give advice on how they overcame it?

As a diabetic who's trying to stay off of medication I don't drink fruit juice. A doctor I used to see (she no longer accepts my insurance) told me to stay away from ALL fruit juice, I thought she was crazy. Now I no longer drink any kind of fruit juice, but I eat plenty of fruit. I try not to eat bread or bread type products more than three times a week. Sometimes I go all week without eating bread. The same ggoes for rice, potatoes, oatmeal and all other cereal. I haven't had corn in almost a year. My present doctor couldn't understand why my blood sugars were almost normal and I had stopped taking the meds. He BLAMED my normal blood sugars on weight loss, because he said if I was eating fruit five times a day my sugar should still be high. He also recommends that I eat some bread. Shaun, bravo to you for acknowledging that weight depends on more than simply calories and exercise. I posted my "story" on the loose skin thread. It's long....way too long really. Once I get mad and get writing....I have a hard time stopping. LOL

But my story is there. My reason is medical and I'm dealing with it by having Gastric bypass. I haven't had it yet so I don't know the outcome. But after surgery my efforts at counting calories will actually work. With the help of high doses of narcotic pain medication I can move a little bit. Hopefully, I can bite the bullet and increase my strength more over time. As I lose weight....activity should be easier to a point. I'll never walk for miles or run anywhere but I might be able to walk the block to the mail box if I really work at it. ;)

Now I can't get enough of the vegetarian and vegan cookbooks at the library (when I find one I don't want to return, then I buy a copy on Amazon!) I've discovered delighful, healthy things like agave nectar, whole wheat berries, brown rice IS tastier than white, and the fun challenge of finding a new veggie to try every week. Last week, for the first time, I learned to make Pizza from the ground up....whole wheat dough from my bread machine, fresh fresh fresh tomatoes reduced to pizza sauce, MMMMMMMM and of course, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EAT FAST FOOD AGAIN....cheap, greasy food prepared by teenagers WILL EVENTUALLY KILL YOU.
