Great diaper!

Love these diapers. They fit like a disposable but have the benefits of a cloth diaper. I've noticed a lot of negative reviews about leaky diapers. I had the same problem at first but I had done my CD research first so I knew that I could make my inserts more absorbent. Most new cloth inserts need to be washed 3-6 times (seriously) before they are fully absorbent. Also, minerals, detergent, diaper creams and other stuff can build up in your diaper liners decreasing their absorbency so I usually wash mine in hot, hot water 3-6 times. I hope this helps those trying to decide whether or not these are the right diapers for their family. :)

Favorite cloth diaper cover, hands down

I had several different hand me down covers to try from a friend who had ultimately decided on (and didn't pass down) gdiapers. I bought one to try it out and I'm hooked. The cotton cover is soft and cute like a pair of underpants rather than a diaper. They also sit up higher on his fat little thighs than a lot of the thirsties style covers allowing for more movement and flexibility. The plastic pouches do a good job containing most messes but I do think they leak more often (usually a bit in the corner after a long nap) than some of the other styles but not enough that it outweighs the pros for me. I use the prefolds as well as the Alva hemp and Bumgenius microfiber inserts rather than theirs because I already had plenty. If you use a thinner insert his pants will actually sometimes fit. When I buy the next size up I will probably buy them somewhere else where there are more color options.

On a side note, as fond as I am of these covers I do not use them overnight and I don't believe they would do well all night even double stuffed so they probably won't be your diapers.

There Was Some Confusion

At first I have made my choice on what kind of diapers we will use for our first cloth diapering experience and it was Thirsties. However, one night I had this thought that in the hospital they will find cloth diapering way too complicated (I gave birth in Barcelona, Spain) so they will not do it. For this reason, I bought the pack of six gPants and some biodegradable inserts that the gDiapers company also sells. Putting in an insert then throwing it out seemed easy enough.

I was still pregnant when I admitted to myself that these would be a much better fit for a newborn. And since I already had sic gPants for the hospital I ordered some washable inserts.

Its not a big secret I am sharing: six were not enough even though we had the washing machine working constantly and I hand-washed the covers. For this reason I ordered the same pack of six that I am reviewing now and six more inserts.

I like them because they are a good fit; cute and in general I find cloth diapering a success story in our lives.

I did not like:
for me it was not easy to understand which side of the insert should touch my baby's skin. I did not understand their drawings so I went for the more natural material: cotton. And later I changed my mind after I had some experience with it...

I contacted Gdiapers because I did not know what they mean by wash the gPant in warm and the inserts in hot water. I wanted specifics. The contact person first wrote back the same thing that you can find on their website: hot and warm. I asked her in a more assertive manor to pay attention to my question. I want to know exactly what temperature is suitable. She wrote back that she googled it (!)... HAHA... And the hot is about 90 degrees in Celsius and the warm is 40 Celsius.

There were some pretty bad leaking issues. The contact person tried blaming me which I did not appreciate. Solution: our water is hard so I add soda bicarbonate with each washing. This helps a bit except when my son pee-s a lot.... Its not the end of world. I change his clothes -end of the story.

I have a huge baby so he will outgrow these shortly. By the time he will reach 2 month of age they will not fit him I think. Because of their price I will not switch to a bigger size. I will test Thirsties as I have originally planed on doing.

Used these diapers for over 2 years and they've held together nicely, for the most part. They velcro needed to be replaced on a few diapers, which was easy, but shouldn't be necessary. The cloth inserts are only useful with newborns, as they only hold 4 tablespoons of liquid. Disposable are fantastic.

Update: After 4.5 years and 2 kids through them, the velcro mostly still works. The plastic liner inside may be the problem, or perhaps the disposable liner. My 2 year old usually wakes with a somewhat wet exterior diaper, but the bed is dry. Might be the way his junk is arranged, but the regular disposables are always dryer, though they are the devil.

Love these diapers except the snaps press on baby’s delicate skin. Also you must make sure the Velcro tabs are lined up 👌 so there’s nothing scratchy or stiff poking or rubbing on baby’s belly. Definitely durable. Read care instructions carefully and the liner have diff requirements.
