Dear Friends of Caroline,
Before there were cell phones and texting, and computers and tweeting, we had wonderful childhoods full of fun and imagination. We played outside, rode bikes, climbed trees - and read books!! Journey back with me to our favorite childhood book, every charming page and character... The darling stories, beautiful illustrations and the thrill of their travels and adventures - pure magic!! Caroline and her sweet animal friends: Rusty, Inky, Pouf, Bruno, Leon, Mops and Spots. From the warm summer trip to, "Blue Lake Camp" with Miss Stringfellow the head councilor, to their trip to India, hampered by Grrumph the King of all tigers, to the ski trip in "Off To The Mountains"... You will delight again in the pure joy and innocent fun of Caroline and her friends. Fifty plus years later, the stories, illustrations and charm have remained ageless. All of your favorite childhood memories of traveling with Caroline and her friends are here. As the actual book is nearly impossible to find now days - this CD is done with love, (for our generation of 1960's kids) so we may once again have access to the wonderful world that was Caroline and Her Friends. This precious book was a big part of my childhood and holds many wonderful childhood memories. Welcome back to a place of sweetness and imagination from back in the day - our "Good Old Days"!!
I dug out Caroline last night from my chest of old stuff because I want to spring it on my 3-year old daughter tonight at bedtime. As I showed my wife the book and looked at the pictures, it was amazing how strong the old memories were from reading this over and over as a kid. (I loved the dogs back then, but now as I look back the two cats and all their sneaky mischief steal the show. I'm looking at it now as I type and I still love it.)
My daughter will love it, too. How can she not? A pretty girl roaming around the world with a pack of animals getting into and out of trouble is still a pretty good formula. I'm amazed that no one has reissued this book in some form or another.
