Absulutly, you can use it as a food scale if you want. I own two different models from Brewista, one is for esspresso and the other is for pour over, and I have no issues with them so far.

Answer:
I've had mine for over a year, and it's holding up great. My battery lasts probably 3-4 months on a charge, at 1-2 cups per day.

Answer:
I had the same issue. It seems that as soon as you press Ratio, it assumes that weight is your new relative zero. If for any reason the measured weight decreases, that causes the error. I have changed mine to manual mode, so now my order of operations is:

2) Power on … see more

3) Place pour-over on top of mug
4) Press 'zero'. Bean icon will show
5) Load grounds into pour-over. Weight will show
6) Press 'ratio'. Calculated water weight will show, as well as a new zero
7) Press 'timer' and begin pouring to match bar graph

I really with the auto mode were a little less sensitive to those slight bumps, but at the end of the day, I now think I prefer manual mode a little better. see less

Answer:
Every battery is replaceable with the right screwdriver! But no, the scale has no normally replaceable battery. That said, it works on USB power if the battery dies completely.
