Cows Can’t Spin Silk is a magnificent book with a strong message that essential to teach at an early age—that each of us a different and can offer different things to the table. Reisman’s methodic use of language (in a very simple form) helps make it easy to keep your child’s attention and teach them new words and animals at the same time. A book worth having on your bookshelf at all times. It’ll definitely be a childhood favorite!
The Cows Can’t Series takes the child to a realm that they can relate to and understand. It is whimsical and fun. Children can relate to the animals and what they can and can’t do as they experience their own successes and limitations in life. It is a must addition to your childs’ reading collection.
Both our kids love it and enjoy reading it as much as making the animal sounds, playing different voices etc. We also bought the other book, "Cows can't jump" and offered it as present to our friends' children and it was a success.
We have "Cows Can't Jump" and "Cows Can't Quack" and were thrilled when we found out Dave came out with a third book in the series. The books are my 3 year old daughter's favorite. They're all easy, quick reads. Illustrations are top notch also. Highly recommend!
Wonderful book! I recommend this to anyone with kids. Also great for those looking for a great birthday or baby shower gift. My kids, 2yrs and 5yrs old, love reading this book before bed. My daughter takes it on our car rides too. It's a fun and easy read for my 5yr old and my 2yr old memorized the pages quickly. Thanks for making reading to my kids the highlight of my day, Dave Reisman!
My 15 month old daughter loves this book. We've almost worn out the first two and she was so excited to receive this new board book. This book introduces many new animals that she doesn't see in other stories as often. I'm sure these books will be a favorite in our house for a long time!
Younger children will learn new vocabulary, problem-solve -- and laugh too -- as they find out which animals can shape tools, form dams, or hammer holes. This is a simple, clever book that will get even the youngest children thinking and predicting what will happen on the next page.
My 3 1/2 year old is so excited there is a 3rd book in this great series (see Cows can't Jump and Cows can't Quack)! The theme throughout the series is wonderful: each animal has something they can't do but then something they CAN do. I think it's comforting to kids to see that everyone has something different and special to offer. I love the language and the art and my son loves the rhythm of the words and he can't wait to see what animal will be on the next page! I highly recommend this book and think the 3 together would make a great gift.
Dave Reisman has done it again with Cows Can't Spin Silk! It's amazing how my boys not only read these books over and over again, they also seem to embrace the animals as characters unto themselves. They make the animal noises, act out the parts and, in general, become totally immersed. It's true interactive content at its best. I would recommend the entire series for a broad age range - starting with toddlers who will love the animals and then for older kids who will read them by themselves. My older son, who is special needs, also loves the rhythm of the language and always responds to it when we read aloud. These books are a great addition to any children's library and they just keep getting better!
