I purchased these stands based on the following criteria:

I was looking for a stand higher than the standard 6-7' offerings on Amazon
I wanted one that was affordable yet didn't seem cheap (based on photos)
Shipping time frame was important as I had a shoot to do and time was of the essence.

CONSTRUCTION & SPECS (stands)
The stands arrived in a white box labeled PBL with simple setup instructions printed on the box. The box measured 47"H X 3-1/2"W X 7-1/8"D.
Ordered On Tuesday 01/30/18 received today 1/31/18, Fantastic shipping time frame.
The stands are made of steel bar and tubing that has been painted a black, it has a light sheen similar to household paint in an Eggshell sheen.
The locking collars are metal which is a nice touch compared to some others that I have tried.
The stands measure 46-3/4" when springs are compressed and metal locking collars tightened (The shortest possible height)
The stands measure 123" (10'-3") from floor to top of screw (max height possible before attaching s-mount, etc)
The foot print of the legs when open measures 36" (3'-0") from leg to leg when opened to the max height indicated above.

CONSTRUCTION & SPECS (weight bags & storage bags)
The storage bags are made of a canvas type material finished in black and fit 1 stand each, the bag is perfectly made for the stands in their compressed state. It has a sewn-in carry strap that is big enough to shoulder and even cross shoulder. They are zippered approx. half way up from the bottom of the bag and the bag is tapered at the top which make it semi form fitting to the stand.

The "sand" bags/weight bags are made of a heavy duty canvas type material with a striped yellow/black pattern similar to a construction sign, it folds in the middle and each side of the bag has a zippered pouch which you can fill with something to weight it down. A heavy duty carry handle is sewn into the midpoint of the bag for easy handling.
If laid flat, they measure 20-1/2" X 10-1/4"
When folded at the midpoint they measure 9-1/2" X 10-1/4"

Positives:
Spring loaded cushioning
Over 10 foot usable height
Sturdy construction
Wide stance
Metal Locking Collars
Nice storage bags and weight bags

Negatives:
No PBL branding as shown in advertisement photos (other than box and weight bags)
Springs float freely inside tubes
Feet are unnecessarily hard to open
Stands will not fit in storage bags if not fully compressed (pushed down by force compressing springs) and metal collars locked, prior to storage.

Final Thoughts:
I love these stands, they're very sturdy and the height is impressive. There was no fumbling around with setup and everything arrived undamaged, so why 4 stars then? Because in the advertised picture, the stands, storage bags, sand bags all have a PBL logo, however neither my stands nor my storage bags have a PBL logo, to some this may not be import but imagine buying a Nike shoe but it doesn't have the Nike logo. To me any shoe gets the job done but you pay a premium for branding and I believe that the photo is deceptive. Placing a logo on a product gives the buyer a perception of establishment, it makes you feel as if you're purchasing a product from an established company versus a "no brand" product from China. I would urge the seller to at least correct the photo and correctly depict what the buyer will receive.

My goal is to help you make an informed decision and if you feel I've helped accomplish that please like and follow me for more of my review. Im also always open to comments, questions and suggestions, so please feel free to let me know.

Quick summary: had I seen and tested this in a store instead of getting it online, I wouldn't have bought it, at least not at this price.

Longer review:

One unit arrived broken, the uppermost clamp is detached from the middle tube. Pressing it back into place only holds for a while, then the spring pressure causes the top section to pop out with force at unexpected times. It's really quite dangerous because of the spring, and yet the stand won't fit in the storage bag unless the top section is compressed into the middle section.

“Heavy duty.” Meh. Yes, it's stronger than a really terrible low-end light stand, but it's a far cry from a Bogen/Manfrotto or a high quality C-stand. Of course, those all cost significantly more and weigh more, so I guess my objection is mostly to the “heavy duty” label when it would be better described as “medium duty.”

Spring design: probably doesn't help very much in an uncontrolled flash/diffuser descent because it only cushions the post after it has accelerated and nearly reached the bottom. For example, the top section is able to free-fall about 30” before it hits the spring, and then it only has 3” to decelerate. Whereas air-cushioned designs don't allow the post to fall rapidly in the first place. Realizing this now, I will no longer buy any stand without air cushioning.

Since the upper-most section arrived detached, the spring falls out if tipped and I can see that it's only 3” long. If the designer really wanted to make a better product without using an air system, the springs should have been softer and significantly longer so that the posts would descend more slowly.

Still, springs seem to be inherently dangerous in this application. I suggest NEVER getting the top of the stand in front of any part of your body while any section is compressed. The spring pressure can cause the post to shoot forward, particularly on a broken unit like the one I received, and yes I really think it could poke an eye out. Best to treat the top-end of the stand like a loaded gun.

The storage bag: haven't tested it much, do suspect that it's as reported by other reviewers and not likely to last very long.

Stand construction: other than the broken part, the rest of the hardware seems mostly OK. It's light for the size yet pretty stable (indoors) extended to about 7', less so above that height, though as with most stands that's to be expected.

Sand bags: surprisingly, these are the best made item in this kit. I'm not saying I love the design, even though it's completely traditional for the product, saddlebags might slip off the leg and I'd prefer something that either wrapped around the center post evenly, or perhaps three separate smaller bags so there would be one for each leg. Regardless of the aforementioned, the strong material, sewing, zippers, and day-glow-yellow warning stripes are all excellent.

I was so worried about these stands when I ordered them. Ordering products online scare me, because you cant feel the build quality of the item. You can call me a Amazon rookie for online shopping. So I read a ton of reviews on Amazon.com abut this product. Watched videos of other products by Steve Kaeser on YouTube [...]. With so may questions on his stands, Steve answered all my concerns with quick replies. This is my first time every working with Light stands. I always used cheap tripods

Now lets get to the review. My box was open when I got it from UPS, and I am thinking o boy this is not a good sign. Thank God all my items were shipped to me. No missing parts. The stands were shipped in separate plastic bags inside their own canvas bags. The bonus was the two sandbags.

The build quality is very good. It took me some time to figure out how to work the spring locks on these stands, but ta-da I got the thumb lock to open. The big surprise came when the stand extension rod jump up from being compressed down against the cushioned spring. Now I know the difference between air, and spring cushioned stands. These stands are going to work great with my 2 speed lights and 42” Umbrella’s. This is the best bang for your buck.

The sandbags that come with this kit are amazing. The vinyl interior with the tough canvas exterior surface, these sand bags are built to last. The hidden bonus is the zippers. The pockets where you fill them up with sand have double lock zippers. No sand can leak out with this engineering design. I will not be using sand in my bags. My choice will be something like marbles or river rock.

so far these 2 stands have proven to be very well made. As good as I was hoping for, but better than expected. Arrived as scheduled, well packed and clean. Oh yay, I had read about poor sand bag quality for other products, but these bags are heavy nylon with dual, yes, 2 zippers and enclosure flap to secure the sand/stone used for weight.
