5.0 out of 5 stars Under rated excellence!!..., November 27, 2008
This review is from: Silent Majority (Audio CD)
In my opinion this album should be in every collection of anyone who's into 'Metal'/'Rock', or just something a little different etc. etc.
It is a great album in many ways: varied, driving riffs, a few quieter/laid back moments, inimitable vocals, humourous and even sad on 2 tracks depending on your interpretation.
I personally love Stanley's vocals, the musicianship is excellent overall and I truly believe this band could have produced more great albums if given the chance; I remember this album getting well reviewed, but I think both timing and some propitiative record company bulls*** came into play!
Anyway, regardless of that, treat yourself to a truly great/enjoyable album - playing it as I write this and forgot to mention... it's also timeless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence..., July 3, 2008

I`ll keep this short and sweet (just like this album!!)... it is a groundbreaking album in that its a true crossover/hardcore assault, but it is played with great precision and pace; brilliant musicians.
In a word (and in my humble opinion), EXCELLENCE!!
Unlike many of the newer breeds of bands, this is the REAL deal with NO sell-outs... I so wish the newer breed would take note.
From a massive fan, but written in all sincerity and honesty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the BEST `Best Of` by this band., February 22, 2004
This review is from: Sladest (Audio CD)
A GREAT album that has some well known AND some lesser known tracks on it - ALL excellent.
Also, another awesome Slade cover of a track, `Move Over` by Janis Joplin... this REALLY is an exceptional/explosive cover.
The whole album is classic Slade, not their best album literally... after all it is a `Best Of` as such, but, still WELL worthy of a FULL 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!..., February 22, 2004
This review is from: Alive (Audio CD)
The title of this brief review IS what this album IS!!!
Take into consideration it was recorded back in 1972 and STILL sounds fresh as a Rock - Rock `n` Roll album.
Recorded in front of an audience at a BBC studio it is a fantastic example of a `live` album, FULL of energy, enthusiasm and some great early tracks/covers - one of them being the last track and the best EVER version of `Born To Be Wild`, check out the ending with a great `endtro` fading into feedback and then fading excellently back in to a great finish.
If you want a GREAT full on album, do not hesitate in getting this one - go on, treat yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another (TOO many times) overlooked Slade classic., February 22, 2004
This review is from: In Flame (Audio CD)
This album is a MUST for any serious music fan to have in their collection. It is a slight departure from some of their more well known stuff, but, it`s STILL Slade.
This is a WELL crafted album and tracks like `How Does It Feel` - `So Far, So good` - `Far Far Away` are finally being recognised as the Classic`s they ARE and all the tunes on this album are good.
I have been a Slade fan since the age of 10!, but, in all honesty... now (39) and for many years I can really hear a lot of things I did not in all those younger years - I should add I like a LOT of music and this IS an unbiased and honest opinion.
Buy now!... SERIOUSLY... I will be very surprised if ANY true music fan would be disappointed with this album.
