Motivational Quotes To Get The Blood Moving
Motivational Quotes To Get The Blood Moving
by Markus Almond
Edition: Paperback
Price: $13.95
30 used & new from $9.95

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Collection of Aphorisms to Start Your Day..., March 17, 2016
This book delivers exactly what it says, quotes that get your blood moving.

Using an clear and concise aphorism style of writing, Markus gives you a book that contains quotes in 5 distinct areas:

1. Mistakes
2. Money
3. True Self
4. Challenges
5. Community

These aphorisms range from "one-liner" to-the-point quotes, to longer paragraphs. Each is written in his very enjoyable and easy to read style. You can read the whole book in one sitting easily, or you can use it as a "daily motivational" type of guide ... opening one page a day and letting it simmer.

Either way, this book will not disappoint.

NOTE: The author sent me a complimentary review copy of this book in advance.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Collection, Indeed..., November 13, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great book.

By lining up scientist after scientist ... and expert after expert ... Mr. Steyn presents his case well. I enjoyed reading the perspectives of Nobel Prize winners, climate scientists and others.

This book received 4 out of 5 stars because of the rather hyperbolic nature of the title (could have been left for the quote that it was), and the Editor's rather dramatic writing style, which did little more to add to the already well-presented material.

In addition to this book I would recommend "Climate Change: The Facts" edited by Alan Moran. Together, they will present an excellent collection of viewpoints in the "AGW" (Anthropogenic Global Warming) debates. The science certainly is not settled (nor should it ever be).

4.0 out of 5 stars The Must-Have "Start Here..." For Your Online Marketing Efforts, October 21, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book represents a foundational starting point for your online marketing efforts.

In each section, which covers a particular part of online marketing, there is the obvious checklist. But then the author provides additional content in each section that can further guide you to success. It's like having a coach to get you started, or if you already market using online tactics, it's a great way to ensure you have everything in line.

I highly recommend this book for new to intermediate business owners.

Why not 5 stars?

You will be constantly testing your marketing, and while this book (and its checklists) represents a great starting point, your own checklist will probably evolve in response to the results of your testing.

Tough to see Mr. Ebert at the end of his life, but overall, two thumbs up. Rest in peace Roger Ebert. Film criticism lost a giant the day you left the movies.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want your business to survive in this hyper-competitive economy ... get this book, December 20, 2014
"Evergreen" is a book that is written like a roadmap for a sustainable business. If, and most business owners won't, but IF you were to follow every instruction outlined in this book ... I would say your business could be almost bulletproof from both customer relationships and business growth standpoint.

Pay close attention to every word in this book.

It seems like common sense stuff, and you might start to get a little "I already knew that" while reading it, but the truth is, most businesses don't operate 100% as Noah has written in this guide.

And they need to, because customers rightly demand it.

Get. This. Book. Now.

But more importantly, use every strategy Noah talks about. Otherwise, you'll waste your hard-earned money.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of Noah's book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really my cup of tea, too esoteric, but solid writing ..., November 14, 2014
A little bit of an esoteric look at a number of topics.

Saul is an excellent writer, so you won't be disappointed reading this book from an "enjoyment" perspective. The drawback? He's has some very, shall we say, "unique" perspectives on the topics he covers inside.

No real depth in any one topic, but that is to be expected with a collection of essays like this.

Wasn't really my cup of tea, I do however recommend Saul's other guide ... "The Lateral Freelancer."

4.0 out of 5 stars A - Z answer to the question "Exactly how do I get started blogging?" ..., November 14, 2014
Great book.

An A-Z approach to starting a blog, then developing it, and finally profiting from it as a tool. One of the things I liked about this book is there wasn't a particular focus on Wordpress alone. Blogger, Joomla (briefly), and other platforms are discussed in the "setting up a blog" section.

But this book goes further, into the content creation aspect of blogging, including sections on how to avoid blogger burnout and how to keep readers coming back to the blog. It also touches on SEO and other "technical" aspects of blogging.

It also covers resources, success stories of popular bloggers and more.

Why not 5 stars?

Two reasons...

1. While this guide provides a solid answer to the question "Where do I start?" with blogging, and dives into several topics, it does not cover any one topic in great depth.

Great for the beginning blogger (in fact, this is the book I would recommend starting with, even before "Problogger"). Not so great if you want depth on any one blogging topic.

2. The title. "The right way" requires a high burden of proof. This book does not go into enough depth to prove it's the "right way." Or, that there is a "wrong way."

Overall, highly recommended book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A balanced viewpoint on the upcoming AI trend..., September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This book provides a balanced and philosophical prediction for what will happen once we start creating intelligent machines. It's a very comprehensive read, covering the topic (AI) very well.

The author is a well-known and respected philosopher, I also recommend you visit his website http://nickbostrom.com and download/view some of his papers.

This book spares the hype, and when I read a book, I respect that. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down. Required writing text for the 21st Century..., September 16, 2014
So, here's the deal, I couldn't put this book down.

David Meerman Scott's "New Rules of Marketing and PR" sits on my shelf. Other books come and go, but his along with a Seth Godin title and about 4 other books, they all stay on that shelf. They don't come and go.

This book just joined them.

I've read hundreds of books a year for each of the last 4 years (a good percentage cover to cover). Except for the ones that I just mentioned, and now Everybody Writes, they just come and go (even Ann's other book, Content Rules, "went").

This one stays. It's powerful stuff. Powerful. Every writer should have a copy.

This is the 21st century's required writing text.
