5.0 out of 5 stars An edge-of-your-seater!, October 20, 2011
"Silence" is an edge-of-your-seater loaded with suspense, action and is a great love story. I loved the peek behind the big, bad man to see the real deal.
It ended with an unexpected twist with a cliffhanger but all the major points of contention are wrapped up nicely. I really enjoyed it and recommend highly.

Penny's writing is so good. Her dialogue is natural and easy and draws you into the storyline. Rich, exciting background and excellent descriptions, such as the art, the people, the politics. There is a lot of intrigue and excitement with plenty of suspects to keep you guessing. Quite an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I love in a book!, August 29, 2011
"Before Ever After" has everything I love in a book. The background settings are breathtaking. The story is loaded with mystery, romance, adventure, humor, and philosophy. The characters are interesting and exciting. The plot twists makes it impossible to put down. Shelley lost her husband, Max, abruptly, by a bomb explosion while she was on the phone with him. Three years later, a man knocks on her door, claiming to be her thirty-two year old husband's thirty-two year old grandson. Could Max possibly still be alive? She hastily boards a plane with Paolo, for the most important, exciting journey of her life. During their trip, Shelley tells Paolo the story of how she and Max met and her experience with him as a tour guide. Unique, and intriguing, I enjoyed this book a lot!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great find!, August 28, 2011
Victoria is a heartbreaking and very believable character. Her bleak outlook is a product of the damage and betrayal of the system, being brought up in foster care. She's suspicious of everyone, distrusting and terribly defensive. The book is told in two parallel story lines. One, 18 year old Victoria's attempts at managing her life in dire straights, and the other, the year 9 year old Victoria spent with her foster mom, Elizabeth. Elizabeth teaches her about the Victorian language of flowers, and Victoria uses it to convey her contempt. In the lovely setting, the San Francisco Bay Area, 18 year old Victoria uses the flower language in her job in a florist shop to create bouquets with messages that seem to come true for the customers. This is an extremely moving and well-written book. A great find!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Page-turning Tear-jerker., August 28, 2011
This book is a wonderful southern story of family dynamics with realistic characters set against a historical background in the 1950's. Jubie, a 13 year old, tells the story beautifully in the well-captured language of the time. This is moving and compelling in a time of racial unrest, reminiscent of the wonderful book, THE HELP. A page-turning tear-jerker that you will want to read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Utter Magic!, August 28, 2011
This review is from: Dolci di Love: A Novel (Paperback)
A New York business woman, Lily Turner, concludes only one thing after stumbling onto a picture of a beautiful woman and two children, that her husband, Daniel, is leading a secret life. She uses the internet to collect info then flies to Tuscany to do further research. There is magic and humor to behold in the charming characters and you will want to travel to Tuscany to feel the warmth and love and magic. I loved this.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one will bring a tear to the eye., August 27, 2011
This review is from: Unsaid: A Novel (Hardcover)
This is really amazing! The characters are very believable with flaws, as flaws go. Unconditional love is at the center of this bittersweet storyline and there is not a better teacher than an animal. The interesting characters emerge triumphantly in touching sensitivity, connection and heart. This one will bring a tear to the eye.
