Well crafted, tightly plotted page turner. The author knows how to unravel a story to keep the tension high and the reader involved. A satisfying ending makes this a worthy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars From potential to publishable novel-This book guides you to getting it done!, April 23, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A widely published novelist who's also a skilled teacher of the craft, Kathryn Johnson shares knowledge that helps you turn that potential novel into a completed, publishable book in record time. This is a wonderful guide to getting it organized, fitting writing into your regularly scheduled life and going from draft through revision and submission in two months. The book is readable, encouraging, inspiring and incredibly practical. Highly recommended.

Like it a lot. Occasionally, run into a glitch that stops it loading, but a second try usually deals with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one's a page-turner, June 23, 2014
"Mercy Killing" combines a galloping suspense story with fascinating characters, an inside look at international statecraft (who knew it could be so interesting?) and gripping issues such as drug and human trafficking. Plus, the main character is so real, you're amazingly connected to her as danger threatens and her life seems to be coming apart at the seams. The way her personal drama plays out also keeps you hooked. I'm excited that this is the first book in a series, because I'm ready for the next one. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Lots of laughs, tears and great info, May 24, 2014

Hilarious, poignant, just about brilliant, this book is a must for anyone undergoing fertility treatments or even thinking about the possibility. I was laughing so hard and so loud, I didn't realize how much information had been packed into its pages. Yes, the process of conceiving under fire is detailed in all its pain and disappointment, also fear and loathing, but all the bad stuff is tempered with encouragement and inspiration. One question: Why doesn't Lori Shandle-Fox have her own show on Comedy Central? More from her, please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love and mystery in the shadows of Victorian London, February 15, 2014
I adore books by this author. They're addicting, loaded with historical ambiance and sizzling romantic scenes. This one, featuring Queen Victoria's daughter Vicky, has a fascinating mystery at its core---Jack the Ripper's on the loose. Kept me on the edge throughout. Definitely five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Recipes-Don't Feel Deprived, January 17, 2014
I love the instructions in this book--they're so easy to follow. And the photos and the comments help make this book a winner. I tried my first recipe --a yummy sounding Turkish veggie salad--and it was easy to prepare and delicious. I've read other cookbooks by these authors and their writing is so clear that even ho-hum cooks like me can manage them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Willa Blair does it again!, July 30, 2013
I was so caught up in Willa's debut novel in this series, I'd been looking forward to the next one. Now it's here. Highland Seer follows some of the characters in the first book and it's another winner. Willa Blair recreates a time and a place (she must do so much research) that takes you into a wonderful world, a kind of never-never land that you want with all your heart to have existed. In this one, the romance is once again both torrid and tender, the plot is swashbuckling, and characters hook you into their stories from the first page. Keep writing, Willa. I'm a devoted fan!

I ordered a sample of this book because I'd read other novels by Elizabeth Ashtree and really liked them. As soon as the sample arrived, I gobbled up the first chapters, hypnotized by the story of a woman who wakes not from a nightmare, but into one. Karli is in a strange room furnished with familiar objects, somehow misplaced. Soon she's confronted with people who claim to be part of her life, seem to be more than strangers, and she has shadows of memories that include them. But they call her Katie and as she feels her two identities clash, they insist she take medicine for a mental illness that has fragmented her awareness. Within a few pages, I knew I had to read the rest of this book. I ordered it and got totally caught up in the lead character as she sets out on a journey of self-discovery that's filled with danger, suspense, romance and betrayal. Elizabeth Ashtree once again scores high with well drawn scenes, great dialogue, a riveting plot and characters that leap from the pages. Read this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story of Love, Intrigue and Victorian Royalty, March 8, 2013
I read, and was enchanted by, the author's first book, The Wild Princess, about life in Queen Victoria's court with the spotlight on Victoria's daughter Princess Louise. So I was eager for the next book to appear. It's here, I own it--hurray!-- I'm halfway through, and I can't put it down. Mary Hart Perry draws such a vivid picture of Victorian England, you feel transported in time and place. Her characters are nuanced, interesting, very human, and you find yourself caring deeply about what happens to them.--especially Princess Beatrice, the youngest of the queen's daughters. The love story is one compelling thread in a riveting plot full of intrigue, suspense and emotion. The narrative moves along at a brisk pace and I'm looking forward to a satsifying ending (except I know I won't want it to end). Tuck yourself into a comfortable chair, sip a steaming cup of English tea, relax, and enjoy.
