1.0 out of 5 stars The names, oh yeah, Ethan Hunt, June 7, 2000
But seriously folks, when the ahem, unimportant female charector askes Cruise his name, I honestly thought he was going to say, Bond, James Bond. After that bond driving scene, really. did anyone else notice that after speeding up the slow motion there was only 30 mins of footage, and yes, only 5 mins of story, the credits. Havent slept better in years. still, if you go for this kind of thing, enjoy the show!

This review is from: Caddyshack (DVD)
I AM NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO GIVES A 1 STAR. BUT TO SEE THIS MOVIE IN PAN AND SCAN GOES AGAINST EVERY BONE IN MY BODY. I CONCUR WITH THE PREVIOUS APPAULED VIEWER ON THE DVD TRANSFER. NOBODY, I SAY NOBODY BRINGS OUT A DVD IN PAN AND SCAN AND NOT WIDESCREEN. A TOP NOTCH MOVIE, MIXED WITH A BAD TRANSFER. THAT IS WHY I GIVE THIS MOVIE 1 STAR NOT 5. THIS REVIEW DOES DEFINITLY NOT APPLY TO THE VHS WIDESCREEN EDITION. I DIDNT FORK OUT 1000'S OF DOLLARS TO BUY A WIDESCREEN TV FOR NOTHING!!! GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME PLEASE. I sincerly apologise for the capitials.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first movie to scare me in a long time., July 11, 1999
This review is from: The Siege (DVD)
Although some people my say that this film is boring and slow, I think it shows how susceptible we are. This movie should be seen by all people who believe in the current system and people who believe that the military should be deployed to attack serious issues. The movie itself attacks serious issues. It shows how a country like America can be brought back to the dark ages and how you should be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it. The Acting by Bruce Willis is outstanding how he portrays a cold-blooded, power hungry general. This movie is aimed at people who have a attention span of more than 1 hour, if this is not you, then you probably will find this movie as boring and slow.

5.0 out of 5 stars House Atredies, The Prequel to Dune, June 27, 1999
Complex, brilliant and prophetic. Frank Herbert's award-winning Dune chronicles captured the imaginations of millions of readers worldwide -- and transformed their perception of what the future could be. By his death in 1986, Frank Herbert had completed six novels in the Dune series. But much of his vision -- vast, sprawling, and multilayered -- remained unwritten. Now, working from recently discovered files left by his father, Brian Herbert and bestselling novelist Kevin J. Anderson collaborate on a new novel, the first volume in the prequel to Dune -- where we step onto planet Arrakis -- decades before Dune's hero, Paul Atreides, walks its sands.
An aging tyrant sits on the Golden Lion Throne and rules all of the known universe, while his son grows dangerously impatient for the crown. A quasi-religious order of black-robed women move their secret breeding program one momentous step closer to creating the god-child they call the Kwisatz Haderach. And a minor family among nobility, House Atreides, chooses a course of honor that will bring it to destruction at the hands of its mortal enemy, House Harkonnen -- or take it to new heights of power.
Here is the rich and complex world that Frank Herbert created in his classic series, in the time leading up to the momentous events of Dune. As Emperor Elrood's son Shaddam plots a subtle regicide, young Leto Atreides leaves his lush, water-rich planet for a year's education on the mechanized world of Ix; a planetologist named Pardot Kynes is dispatched by the Emperor to the desert planet Arrakis, or Dune, to discover the secrets of the addictive spice known as melange; and the eight-year-old slave Duncan Idaho is hunted by his cruel masters in a terrifying game from which he vows escape and vengeance. But none can envision the fate in store for them: one that will make them renegades -- and shapers of history.
Covering the decade when Shaddam wins his throne, the teenager Leto Atreides becomes the unexpected ruler of House Atreides, and Pardot Kynes uncovers one of the planet Dune's greatest secrets, House Atreides captures the grandeur and drama of Frank Herbert's epic. And while this new novel solves some of Dune's most baffling mysteries, it presents new puzzles springing from the sands where one day Paul-Muad'dib Atreides, the hero of Dune, will walk. But now, in these years before Paul's birth, an unforgettable new epic begins.

3.0 out of 5 stars Time Running out for Sandler, January 24, 1999
This review is from: The Waterboy (DVD)
Although the Waterboy, was yet another funny movie by Sandler, you can tell his routine is running dry. Personaly I found this movie predictiable, and very poor in some of his jokes where his stupid faces no longer let him off the hook. He better go back to quality acting like the Wedding Singer or find himself out in the cold as yet another outcast of Hollywood.
But, the movie did have its origional parts which brought up the laughs and the ratings.
Dont see this movie unless your in it for a laugh only, not a serious movie with a plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jackie Chan Speaks Out, January 24, 1999
Although this not Jackie Chan's first movie in a police/martial arts role, it is the first in which he has actually spoken english. In his previous movies, Rumble in the Bronx (Canadian set) and First Strike (Australian set) he was dubbed by an english voice.
In my opinion, what give Jackie his "edge" is that he does all his highly skilled stunts by himself, absolutely no stunt doubles.
Now, he enters the US market with its biggest mouth, Chris Tucker. The Pairing reminds me alot of Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolate in "48 Hrs", and its sequal "Another 48 Hours", but certianly a great deal more politicaly correct.
Personaly, I would give this movie a 5 star because of the high-class acting and wonderful mixture of both humor and action whilst keeping them apart when required.
