2.0 out of 5 stars Great if it wasn't melted., May 5, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Excellence 99% Cocoa Bar (Misc.)
The bar itself was great but when I opened it the bar was basically melted to the inside of the case it comes in. I probably lost half the bar because it was molded into the little groves of the case. Extremely disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great concept but needs a little polish, December 9, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Steam Link (Video Game)
It's a great concept and works very well 98% of the time. Pairing and linking with a PC is a snap and takes minutes. Getting a game up and going works extremely well.

There are some hiccups in the process. The image that comes across isn't as clear as it is on my monitor. For gross details this isn't really an issue but if you're playing a game where you'll need to read some smaller text it becomes readily noticeable. This may be due to my TV but it ran at 1080p with no trouble. The intro movies and cutscenes of certain games also wouldn't display on the TV but would play on the monitor.

There was also an odd bug when I closed Steam Big Picture, the Link would display my computer desktop and basically stream my desktop and whatever I was doing on it to the TV. This is cool and useful however it snarls web traffic on the PC after a few minutes until you unplug it.

It's a great device, well worth the $50, and it'll be an even better deal after some updates and tweaks.

In-N-Out Burger: A Behind-the-Counter Look at the Fast-Food Chain That Breaks All the Rules
In-N-Out Burger: A Behind-the-Counter Look at the Fast-Food Chain That Breaks All the Rules
by Stacy Perman
Edition: Paperback
Price: $12.74

2.0 out of 5 stars Broad in scope, narrow in depth, November 19, 2015
For someone who knows little else about In-N-Out, the book comes off as uncomfortably positive towards the company and the people who've worked for and run it. The author has nothing but praise for Harry and Rich. Even when distinctly uncomfortable topics like Guy come up, it feels glossed over and under-stated. Most of the book reads like a commercial for the company akin to those "history of our company" webpages that most stores put up; glowing positivity with very little else.

Only when you hit about chapter 15 or so do things start to heat up a little but even then it still feels like the author is trying to soften an otherwise difficult subject to make it easier to talk about. There are some interesting sidetracks into Southern California history and the history of fast food but the book reads like a watered-down historical puff piece for the company without going into any real depth about anything.

This is an incredibly handy volume to study but it is rather focused on medicine in places like Sub-Saharan Africa or South America and much of the advice is given with similar locations in mind. A broader view would have made it much more helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a lockbox, not a safe., September 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's an adequate little lockbox that helps secure things like money, spare keys, or flash drives you don't want people messing with. It's solid construction but by no means "thief proof." Smashing it or prying it open with a screw driver wouldn't be strenuously difficult but if the objective is simply to keep people's wandering fingers off of small pieces of property then it works great. It isn't meant to be a safe.

My only gripe is that the mechanism for the tumblers is a bit rough and the dials sometimes get stuck and have to be wiggled loose.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very math focused., September 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The description of these books lists them as focusing on "introducing the reader to the various concepts in the fields of engineering conceptually rather than mathematically."

The opposite is actually the case. This book is intensely math-heavy and assumes that you have some background in the higher levels of high school mathematics such as advanced algebra or calculus.

This is not a book for high school students who haven't taken advanced mathematics yet and it's certainly not for anyone who isn't looking for a math-focused approach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not useless but not quite as advertised, September 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Usable but by no means ideal. It's easy to pack the bags and drain the air out with a vacuum however these bags do not seem to be constructed with a great deal of moving around in mind; these are meant to be deflated, shoved under a bed or in a box, and left alone. About 60% of the bags I used lost their seal within a day or so of being left and reinflated to a degree.

The plastic itself is also thin and tears easily, especially when zipping up the bag.

These absolutely would not be my only line of protection for whatever was in the bag for long-term storage but they're better than nothing at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought for long-term storage of clothing and other small articles ..., September 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vittles Vault Outback 50 (Misc.)
Bought for long-term storage of clothing and other small articles. They do require a wash out with some warm water and soap but after that they serve quite well as storage containers. The seal is airtight and protects the contents well. The only issue I had was some plastic remnants from the molding process around the edge of the opening and they were quite sharp, they cut a piece of clothing and sliced up one of my fingers. I'd suggest removing these fragments with a knife.

Great buy. The fabric feels thin but seems quite strong. It is advertised to be able to hold three people however I'm not certain it could do so securely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect help, June 19, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The set up and configuration process is relatively simple and the device does act as advertised.

It loses a star because the support and instructions for the product are virtually non-existent. The directions are simple, clear, and straightforward and as long as nothing goes wrong they work just fine. If there are any problems you are on your own to solve it and there is almost nowhere to ask questions except to Seagate itself.

Their responses were not quick (roughly a week) and while they were generally helpful it took a long time to get problems evened out. It's built with the expectation that no problems will arise or that you can diagnose them on your own.

Unless you have some experience working with network attached storage devices or at least a good working knowledge of troubleshooting computer issues I would not start with this one. It's good in that it's simple and once it's set up and running it runs well without too much trouble.

It loses a further star because of the included OS. Managing large numbers of files is extremely difficult with the onboard file viewer and basically requires the Sdrive software to be of any help. It integrates PLEX but the integration is awkward and the account migration between different PLEX accounts isn't straightforward. There is likely a way to use an alternative to PLEX but, as I previously mentioned, there are zero instructions on how to do this so you're on your own.

If you want to create your own personal Netflix/Pandora and have a place to store backups, it's a workable device that does the basics just fine. If you want to get more complicated or you need more help, look elsewhere.
