4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, October 3, 2011
This cookbook is not about the recipes, it's about teaching you how to cook. She gives you a handful of templates, which you can then take in a million different directions. For instance, she gives about 30 different kinds of tomato sauce, but the important one is the template at the beginning. With that one in hand, you can create your own sauces with what you have in the kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best overview of the German part of WWII, August 3, 2011
This review is from: The Third Reich at War (Paperback)
This, along with the previous two volumes, is probably the best overview of WWII in Germany available. It covers every aspect of the German side of the war, focusing specifically on the Polish, Russian and French offensives. This is not, however a military history. You can't cover the war without talking about the major battles; however, this book puts a special emphasis on what was happening within Germany at the time, both with the common people and politically within the Reich.

This book is not a history of World War II, nor is it a history of Europe during WWII. It is mostly a history of Germany during WWII. And by that measure it does a superb and thorough job.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too specific to be a patterns book, February 17, 2010
This is a good book on language implementation via ANTLR, and interesting in that respect. However, if you are working in a non-Java, non-ANTLR environment (C with Bison for instance), the patterns that are spelled out are too specific. For instance, the tree-matching and tree-walking examples are given in ANTLR only with no discussion on how to accomplish this in any other environment, despite being the most common way of dealing with languages.

Great book for ANTLR, not so great for other implementation environments.
