I really didn’t know what this book was about before reading it, but I liked the title. It took me 6 months to read the first quarter (because life), but I committed to finishing it in 2020. The last 3/4 took 4 days which would have been less without life’s normal distractions.

I am a believer in taking charge of one’s own health. I am 56 and have not been to a doctor for 7-ish years. This book blew my concept out of the water. I love the journey Cash takes us on about the retreat of John of God in Brazil. His lighthearted humor leads you through the personalities of the people from his experience in the way a business person works in an office or mom meanders through suburban life. We are all quirky and his experience was so relatable. But the further the story went, the more profound and deep the meaning of each point of experience became.

My sister and I have had a conversation about whether something you are doing for yourself is stupid if it works. The short answer is that it is not. The longer answer has imbedded in it the thoughts of whether you believe it will work, how much hope and optimism contribute to your success and how far you are willing to go to take responsibility for your own physical, spiritual & emotional health.

This book explores all of those areas in life where we either believe it can or cannot be done, and how we are usually right. Lovely book.
