This book started out well, a great premise for a story but then.....Ms. Alcott turned into an overwritten, endlessly blathering, debacle of a boring book. The whole book just rambled on and on with every "issue" just psychoanalyzed to death and then some.
Really quite a shame since the story had such wonderful potential and Ms. Alcott's writing before she became so loquacious was very clean and readable but after she started with the endless analyzing and descriptions I just finally had to tune out, put the book down, and say nope, I cannot torture myself with this book one more second. I doubt I'll ever finish it. A talented young writer but where were the editors? Too bad, this could have been a quite wonderful book but alas, it isn't.

I agree, I almost gave up on this too but stuck through it to the, end. As you say, sometimes it was "torture." I really don't think an editor could have helped. Needs to be completely reworked.
