I am a firefighter and personal trainer and work hard at making good food choices the book is a great guide for anyone that considers a healthy lifestyle important. I wish I had found this when my daughter was younger I would have not fed her some of the foods I did. If you are a parent you must read this and incorporate its guidance in the foods you cook for your family.

I love this book for a food reference and have learned a lot about the foods I ate and now no longer eat. While I have always eaten well I took most of my food guidance from the media sources that are a part of or daily life and had fallen into the pit of assuming they were all correct. This book has helped me chart a better path to healthier food choices and I highly recommend it. it helped me link some of the problems I was having with the foods I was eating. Now having removed them from my diet I no longer am experiencing the issues.

After I read the section on fats and carbohydrates I removed some items from my cabinet and tossed them. Though I knew all along they were probably not good for me I chose to take the easier path in food prep and have quickie foods to eat. It amazes me how many chemicals are in our food that are preservative in nature. I get why the manufacture does it but am choosing now not to have it in my body.

If you have problems with your gut and are not sure why this may lead you to the answers.

The recipes in the back are a nice addition and give starting points for cooking better.
