Does what it says on the tin, 1080p fullscreen video on linux with no other GPU and minimal CPU usage. Takes almost no power, produces no noticeable heat, silent, zippy, and cheap too. I assume it just works out of the box on windows, but since I haven't touched an NT kernel in 6 months, below are the steps to get it going in Ubuntu 12.10.
First install the drivers, I built them from sources I got off broadcom's site but in theory you can just: sudo apt-get install crystalhd-dkms firmware-crystalhd gstreamer0.10-crystalhd libcrystalhd3 for the same results
To get XBMC using them, go into its settings menu and look for Crystal HD, (I think under Video or System) there should be a checkbox to enable using the card
To get video acceleration (both flash and html5) working in chrome, do the following: 1) create a file at /etc/adobe/mms.cfg with the contents OverrideGPUValidation=0 EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1 2) in chrome, go to chrome://flags and disable gpu checking to get html5 acceleration working 3) also in chrome, enable the details view at chrome://plugins and disable 'pepper flash' to get flash video acceleration working.
