UPDATE: So I have to admit that the smoothies do taste quite delicious! I reach for this book any time I am short on time and hungry or craving something sweet after dinner. I don't know if anyone noticed that the author has some sort of connection with Nutiva (who sells all the superfoods mentioned in the book) so I felt like I was scammed into buying the superfoods. It seems as though Nutiva paid her to publish the book.

I just purchased my amazing Vitamix and was looking for a great smoothie book - vegan & veggie based. I don't doubt that the smoothies in this book are as delicious as they look, however I felt let down. I was at least hoping there would be some consistency in ingredients - like almond milk - but it seems like every recipe requires totally different ingredients. There is barely any overlap. You will also need to buy the following superfoods: acai berries, algae, cacao, camu berries, chia seeds, flaxseed, goji berries, hemp seeds, maca, maqui berries, mulberries, lucuma, sea buckthorn juice. Some I have, many are available online and not cheap. And what I disliked the most is the use of fruit juice in many recipes - apple juice, pineapple, orange.
I will choose one smoothie buy the ingredients and update my review. Hopefully it wows me!
