LOVED the detailed nutrition background in the first 1/3 of this book! The recipes are accessible. I know there are some strange ones, involving more parts of the animal. But the best part is the dissertation about nutrition. You can unlearn all the myths propagated by the lobbying food industry behind sugar, seed oils, etc. This book has changed how I look at food. A splurge is still that, but it teaches me that what you eat, and how you prepare it, where it came from, is all so important. I love the Weston Price foundation as well, of which Sally is the chief dietician. The Foundation has local chapters and a wonderful podcast called Wise Traditions. There is SO much to unlearn and re-learn!
The recipes are actually very accessible to any household. Most of them are classic favorites along with a wide range of culturally diverse dishes. I also really love the anecdotes and facts in the margins of every page, and room to write your own notes as well.
