The 'Wild Grapes' wine kit arrived Oct 22, 2019. Everything looked fine upon arrival. On Nov 9, 2019 I went to make some wine and found the top of the box had exploded open with the juice bag filled with gas and ready to burst. See the photo.
Fortunately, the plastic bag had not yet broken, so I took it outside to discard. Had the bag broken, there would have been quite a mess to clean up.
There is a 'no return' policy by 'Wild Grapes', but Amazon did give me a full refund.
I have bought about 50 wine kits of various brands over the past 5 years, and this is the first time something like this happened. This is the first (and last) 'Wild Grapes' wine kit I bought.
I realize things like this can happen, but this does not speak well for their quality control. Also, there is no expiration date printed anywhere on the box - as on some other brands. The yeast had an expiration date of 09-2021, so it is likely the product is not too old, just defective.
