Greg Kihn does a masterful job of recreating the sights and of course sounds of this rock n roll era. He uses simple prose much like Ken Follett to great affect. He is to rocking dive bar brawls as Ken Follett is to mid evil pillaging. You'll find yourself looking up the songs on youtube and playing them whilst reading. Rubber Soul is like a Dan Brown experience but with music instead of renaissance art. Kihn proves that he is a true scholar in the field of 60's and 50's rock. Read this book you'll actually learn something in the process and you won't be able to get the hilarious image of John Lennon singing "suckee, suckee, suckee" out of your head.
