Recently got a Vitamix Blender with the intention of making a green smoothie everyday to clean up my diet a bit (have being doing well for over a month). Looked at a bunch of green smoothie books and saw pretty much the same recipes in most of them. What set this book apart from the rest was its layout and basic smoothie 3-column formulas but, mostly the personal stories of the two authors. Found those pretty motivational. Looked at their blog too and found it very useful and got the sense that this smoothie business was truly a lifestyle for them and their busy families. Also, they provided plenty of convincing anecdotal accounts of their personal health benefits which were better than charts and scientific citations on the merits of blending. They also provide a 10-day starter kit with two shopping lists that were very helpful in getting started.
I did the juicer stuff several years ago and found that process too messy, too labor-intensive and too expensive producing minimal amounts of juice from a lot of effort. And it took out all of the pulp which I tend to like.
This blender method is much easier, less messy and less expensive and this book is the best one I found for someone getting started.
You probably don't really need a book to get into green smoothie blending since the internet is full of information but this sure was helpful and easily available when I need it and probably saved me some money by reducing my early mistakes. And after buying a $600 blender, I thought the cost of this book was a small price to pay for some quick, organized help and inspiration.
