I bought the book because I love the Jack Reacher series - and Lee Child actually recommends this author, so I expected good writing. My mistake (Lee, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??) If I were to choose only one adjective to describe this novel, then it would probably be "wooden". The story drags, the characters fail to come alive, the dialogue often seems to go nowhere and the style is... well, practically non-existent (I think she was going for "lean and spare", but overdid it). Seriously disappointing. I could not bring myself to finish it, which is very rare. PS. And I am glad Reacher himself did not make an appearance - it would be painful to see him described in this awkward prose.
