Bill’s Review This is an amazing, shocking, ugly, and, finally, uplifting story about a Polish Jewish family during World War II, including, of course, the Holocaust. What to me is even more amazing is that the author, Georgia Hunter, is actually a part of the family she is writing about! Her grandfather was actually one of the primary people in the story. Every bit of the story is absolutely true with only a very few of the names changed. The book describes all (most?) of the things members of this family needed to do – and did – to survive, which they did. I don’t think any of us readers can fully grasp what those people did, things that would have literally killed most of us “soft” 21st Century Americans! This is a must read for almost anyone, maybe especially today (7/13/19) when there seems to be rising antisemitism in Europe and the U. S.
