This is a very poorly designed product from a very good manufacturer. Bad technology backed up by poor tech support. I've tried for almost a year to get this unit working as advertised, but it is hopeless. This is even my second replacement of the same model. Cheaply made and poorly documented. Tech support has no solutions, only an endless stream of stock PDF posts that don't address the problems. When I called (more than a half-dozen times) tech support, I never talked to anyone who spoke distinguishable English. Shameful to not have a single American speaking technician who can articulate and understand the English language. I tried to get my money back but the only thing offered is another replacement unit. The unit is not the problem, the technology and product design is the problem. I finally just ate the cost and purchased a Synology unit that I am thrilled with. My WD EX2 Ultra now serves as a doorstop. Looks pretty snappy, gotta admit.
