I didn't know what to expect since this movie had some 1 and 3 star reviews as well. Obviously the equipment is no longer practically available to do huge battle scenes. But this a different kind of war movie, revisits the memories of a gentleman who did his duty for his country in WWII as so many others did.
Don Smith's son has created this film independently without hollywood-type combat equipment and effects. But the message is well done. The movie is filled with the emotion that these young men had in love and war, and as a true story, is especially meaningful. It is the REAL story of his father,
It is a war story, a love story, and a REAL story, all in one. Every WWII vet could identify with a lot of it, and every kid should have a chance to see it and remember what our Greatest Generation sacrificed for us, just doing their duty. A generation of quiet heroes who we should never forget.
I also recommend this for any history class as it is factual as well as great insight into the war experience of combat infantry. Thanks for a great movie, Thad!! For me, this is a keeper.
