Great little keyboard for Fire TV, HTPC, streaming boxes, etc. I like it and it's probably better than any other options available. I am a very discerning customer and don't write many reviews. But this keyboard is great. If you own a streaming box and you get sick of entering text with the factory remote then BUY THIS! Great for Kodi users!
Pros:
- backlit (this is huge) don't buy ANY remote without this
- lightweight yet feels like good quality
- perfect size
- rechargeable batt
- supports many different OS/devices
Wishlist:
- Programmable IR functionality (you can't turn on TV/home theater so second remote is required)
- more android butttons and include a button mapping guide (button mapping is confusing)
- reduce the number of buttons slightly or change them to be OS/Android specific (function keys and redundant mouse buttons are not necessary)
- take the Rii logo and instructions off the trackpad (looks tacky in my opinion)
Make sure you order from amazon direct and get a genuine product. Lots of fakes floating around i hear. My keyboard has the Rii logo and gesture instructions imprinted on the trackpad as you see in the pics above. The box also has a genuine sticker with hologram.
A few tips for Fire TV users (and probably most android users):
- You can pair it to the fireTV using the bluetooth function in the fireTV settings menu. No need to use the usb dongle although you might be able to
- Esc = back on FTV remote
- Back = back in kodi
- C = context menu (depends on app)
- M = menu (depends on app)
- other kodi shortcuts exist when hitting different letters
