It would be difficult to read this book and remain indifferent whatever your philosophy of life. It's as deeply moving as it is thought provoking and written in an entertaining very readable style.
Set against the background of a general inquiry into the whole process of healing and the part played by the relationship of the mind to the body this is the account of the author's twelve day trip to the Casa De Dom Inacio in Abadiania, Brazil. This is the place where John Of God carries out spiritual headings.
He is here seeking the answers to many questions and approaches events with an open mind. The whole adventure is vividly brought to life as we are introduced to other members of the group and become involved in their problems too.Throughout the narrative there is a wider discussion of healing and healthy living in general.
By the end of his story he has witnessed many inexplicable events and emphasises the importance of faith and belief. "it is not the faith of the healer that creates a miracle. it's the faith of the patient that a miracle can occur that does it.".
I found this to be a very powerful read and I have returned to it several times as it has helped me to rethink my own beliefs and overcome some doubts.
I highly recommend if to anyone who is interested in matters spiritual or in healing and healthy living. The inspirational message is invaluable to all.
