These are very fresh. That also means they are very potent. I had never had them before and made a chicken dish (with fake chicken). I followed the recipe. Apparently, they assumed that you had older peppercorns, not these little balls of hell. My poor mouth was super numb with every bite in a very unpleasant and unsettling way. They still get 5 stars, because apparently, that is what they are supposed to taste like. In summation: if you like Szechuan peppercorns, you will like these. If you've never had them, make something that just uses a little bit, and prepare yourself mentally and physically for the unpleasant sensations.
