NOT SECURE! Buyer beware! This latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 is simply an old product with a new year displayed. It is still built around Internet Explorer, a browser that Microsoft discontinued 3 years ago. The software requires that you create two logins - one online and one in the desktop program - these are not related to each other. Then it requires that you change these "strong" passwords every 90 days. But, because the software is built on such outdated tech, you can forget about using your password manager to log in. Nope. You'll have to do that manually which means likely exposing those passwords in plain text. Oh, and this "desktop" software will share your information online with various 3rd parties - all over http, unsecured, unencrypted - NOT https.
Also, neither of my banks, nor my credit card will sync with this software. Transactions have to be manually downloaded and imported. Probably because they're aware of the security issues and want to protect their customers.
Conclusion: Unless you want your financial and personal information hacked, DO NOT USE BUY OR INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE!!!
I appreciate you taking the time to share an honest review with us, Steve. I want to clear the air and give you some insight into how we handle security and the data we collect. Even though Microsoft discontinued making new versions of Internet Explorer 3 years ago, It is still regularly maintained by them as it is a facet of the Windows Operating system. Because of this, QuickBooks also uses TLS 1.2 security protocols for transmitted data.
As for the information we collect and share, the following article explains how we handle that: https://security.intuit.com/index.php/privacy You can find this information under section 2 "WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION".
In regards to the banks not being able to connect, this could be for various reasons, however, we have a standard for data encryption that is the same as most banks. If you need any help with connecting an account, I'm more than happy to work with you via email (QBCares@Intuit.com). In the meantime, you can confirm what types of connections (Webconnect vs Direct Connect) they support, if any at all, by following this link: https://ofx-prod-filist.intuit.com/qb1300/filist.asp
I hope this helps to clear any confusion about how we handle security and your data. Should you have any questions about the information I've provided, feel free to email me about that as well. Thank you again for taking the time to review, Steve.
