Thomas Harris' prior books have a special place in my memory. They were well written and well edited, with ideas that were fresh and thought out.
Cari Mori has the bones of a good story. Good ideas are here, but it reads more like a first draft then a completed novel.
Fact is the majority of the reviews are pointing out basically the same thing, but they're all putting the blame on Mr. Thomas. I'm going to fault Grand Central Publishing for the lack of good editing.
I've been noticing this recently with veteran authors. Their current works don't hold up to their prior. Not in ideas, but in delivery. Publishing houses are no longer employing good editors or are afraid to push legendary writers through an extensive editing process or the authors themselves think that everything they decide to write doesn't need reviewed before publication.
Anyway you look at it its a money grab for someone. In the end with a little extra time this novel could have been something special, but falls way short of even being a half decent story.
