The author, TaM D’Lyte, has a way with words, and is able to write about explicit domestic violence, which is a difficult thing to engage with, but the author does this well. This book is both an easy read with the author using her skill with words to tell the story, while at the same time the adult themes that are apparent in the book makes it a difficult and yet engaging read. The psychological development of the characters, for me, is the best thing about the book (one of!) as I really enjoy when the author plays with the characters and makes them as real as possible, and I found myself easily seeing the world of the protagonist, Terese, through her eyes. As a side note, I really liked the intext footnote touch! My knowledge about horses has grown in reading this book!
Recommend Bittersweet: Sanctuary for anyone else who wants a fantastically well written page turner with 18+ themes.
