Roxanne St. Claire's newest novel starts out with a bang! Maybe it should be called a roar! In either case Lacey Armstrong is trying to save her daughter Ashley's life, as well as her own! She is in the middle of a hurricane, in the rickety beach house left to her by her Grandparents. It's the only home she and her daughter have, and it's falling apart around them. She drags them into a huge heavy bath tub, pulls a mattress over them, and rides out the storm. When the storm is gone, all that's left is Lacey, Ashley, and the bath tub. Here the adventure begins.
Lacey sees this as a chance to start over, to do what she really wants with her life, baking and a lovely Bed and Breakfast on the shores of Barefoot Bay. The story has so many ups and downs, I don't want to give any spoilers, but the cast of characters in her life deserve a mention! We have Clay the "almost architect" with serious family and love issues. He's willing to do her dream for free, and he's also gorgeous with lots of muscles! Her three best friends in the world Jocelyn, the life coach, Zoe the wanderer, and Tessa newly divorced, organic gardener, enter the adventure. Then, David. He ran out of Lacey's life fourteen years ago, after telling her to have an abortion, and come to Patagonia with him. Obvious how that turned out! He has returned a successful chef, changed his name to Fox, and wants back in Ashley and Lacey's life. Mix in small town characters, friend and foe, and you have a very delightful story! I'm very happy that this is going to be a series. After reading the preview for Jocelyn's story I can't wait!!
