It’s much thinner… at least half as much… as the 100-foot drains in the home centers. I suspect this is much thinner so it’ll fold up easy into a handy little retail package rather than a huge roll about 4-feet in diameter. Depending on use the thickness may not be an issue but thinner is much more flexible. We have an irrigation canal for the summer and getting water to many things involved a pump and sprinklers so we dug a series of narrow canals through the property to let the ground absorb it. The idea was fine and everything stays watered without any power but the little canals… about 6" deep and 4" wide… will get overgrown easily and then become a trip hazard and it makes mowing much more difficult. The answer was this pipe because it’s perforated and lets water out easily. The canals aren’t very straight so this conformed nicety and after putting some weed block over it we were able to cover it with dirt to get a level surface. We didn’t cover the entire water system but just places for walkways and the riding mower. Excellent pipe and having the thicker pipe on hand was the reason for going with this one because the other stuff is just too rigid.
