This is one heavy duty ice cream scoop. I usually submerge it in hot water for a few minutes before using it. With my freezer at minus four to five degrees I can't imagine a different scoop holding up under the strain. It is on the heavy side and you'll need to have a good grip on a frozen container of ice cream or in my case frozen yogurt. Chances are pretty good that all the similar appearing scoops are identical to this one. Rubber hand grip is also holding up well. I don't put it in the dishwasher because you really don't need to. It cleans up looking as good as new. Need to figure who I'm going to leave it to in my will, along with my 70 year old Kitchen Aid mixer model B3.
