They're not thick enough for their width, and they're way too short. Their length makes it seem as though someone intended them to be cooked in a very small stock pot (in Taiwan, where they're made, perhaps?).

If you don't add them to the cooking water one-by-one, they stick together. Two or three of them that are stuck together make for a bit of a surprise if they find their way into your mouth without you noticing. Crunch!
