This device works exactly as they say it will. The added benefit of having 4K pass through without having to disconnect cables is amazing! Obviously you can’t capture at 4K but you can simply press the knob AND set the device to 1080p and then you can capture. I noticed no display lag when capturing. I hooked up a Kinivo HDMI switch before this on the input side so I can now capture a Switch, xbox, or the PC (screen 2) without having to swap cables around. The RGB is nice and it has a mirror finish on top.
The only cons I can think of is the device is kinda light and plastic-y. It doesn’t feel like it’ll break so that’s not super concerning to me. Also, It does require 2 USB ports, one of them at least usb3.0 (3.1 or 3.2 should work fine as the USB group hates it’s customers with the constant renaming of the same ports!)
At the $99-$129 price point it can be found for it is an amazing deal! I’d not hesitate to buy another to use as a dedicated camera capture when I upgrade from a webcam to a DSLR or similar with HDMI out.
