Customer Review

I was in the Dutch Marines for 8 years and we used a compass a lot of times. This one looks like a good military compass, is heavy and feels sturdy. The needle will turn to North accurately and is not jumpy. So now the basics are working, on to the bad part. The rotary dial is way to loose, there is no way to set it to a course and keep it there. You have to set it every time you use it. The thumb ring is way to small for adults, no way you can get a normal size thumb in there without getting stuck. The compass cannot be put flat on a map, the thumb ring sticks out, lining up your compass with a drawn line on the map is not accurate. The luminous parts lose their ability very fast so you need a flashlight to use it at night, this will impair your night vision. The picture with the parts in the manual is "unreadable" as the lines are all end up in a dark area.
While this is a compass, it fails to be a precise instrument for navigation. You get what you pay for so considering the low price I still give it 3 stars because it will tell you where North is :)
