I am an avid life-long horror fan. We have all seen Michael, Jason, Freddie. Most of the follow-ups indeed suck. This movie does a smart job of respecting the franchise and building legacy and conclusion. It also extends the legacy to new generations.
Jamie Lee Curtis is a Tour-De-Force reprising the role that started things in her youth. She masterfully brings the psychological reflection of trauma, anxiety, fear and smart channeled strength to the character.
It is her story, and her legacy.
Certainly, there are predictable moments but the ride is solid.
For those not acknowledging that, I’d simply ask what you were expecting? A new story or a solid conclusion to the storyline created 40 years ago? It has menace, creep factor, nostalgia and on edge jump-scares a plenty.
The negative reviews are unfounded and should not deter fans of horror or the franchise. Get it and dim the lights, get comfy and be prepared to be entertained.
